Soma ufahamu huu kisha ujibu maswali.
1.

Ukahaba ni tabia ya ufasiki kwa lengo la kupata pesa. Ni uozo unaoivika jamii tambara mbovu la izara na ndiposa viongozi wa kidini hawakomi kukashifu dhambi hii na kuilaani kama taksiri kubwa mbele ya Mwenyezi Mungu. Wanajamii nao huonyeshia ghadhabu yao wazi kwa tabia hii kwa kuwatenga mahawara ambao wamejikosea heshima, staha na taadhima. Swali ambalo wanasoshiolojia huuliza ni hili: Je, ni nini hasa husababisha watu kujiingiza katika bahari hii ya uozo usiomithilika?

Utafiti umedhihirisha ukweli wa kutisha kuhusu sababu za ukahaba. Ajabu ni kwamba, licha ya serikali kuwakodolea vimada jicho kali na kuwaadhibu vikali,tabia hii ya uhayawani huendelea kama moto katika kichaka kikavu.

Ni ukweli usiofichika kuwa mwana wa nyoka ni nyoka na mwana wa kuku hafunzwi kuchakura. Watoto ambao huishi na wazazi wanaoshiriki katika ukababa huishia kuwa weledi wa tabia hii. Kuna mitaa mingi sana ambako baadhi ya wazazi hawajali kuonekana na watoto wao wakifanya ukahaba. Watoto hao huanza kufikiria kuwa ukahaba ni biashara halali na inayofaa maishani. Hata kabla wabaleghe, wao pia wanakuwa makahaba sugu.

Je, twaweza kulaumu umaskini? Labda. Ni nani anayependa ufukara? Ni nani hapendi kuishi rnaisha mema ya raha na starehe'? Hata hivyo, iwapo darahima zitatoka katika biashara ya ukahaba, raha hii bila shaka huja kuwa karaha. Kina mama ambao wamesukumwa na hali ngumu ya ulitima huona ukahaba ukiwa njia nyepes ya kupata riziki na wengi hawajali afya yao au hatari za magonjwa ya zinaa kama kaswende, kisonono au ukimwi. Tena kwa vile utajiri huu ni wa haraka na usiohitaji elimu, tajiriba au bidii ya mchwa, watoto wa kike na kina mama hao hunaswa kama nzi kwenye utando wa buibui. Ama kweli, umaskini ni ibilisi mkubwa kwa mwanadamu. Katika juhudi za kufukuza umaskini kwa kujikosea heshima kiasi hiki',: kunao wameitambua dunia kuwa mti mkavu ambao umewabwaga na kuwaelekeza', jongomeo. Mayatima nao wamezidi kuongezeka. Lo! Mola tusamehe!

Ni wazi kama mchana kuwa elimu ni nuru inayomwelekeza mja katika maisha yake. Bila elimu, maisha huwa usiku wa giza na mwanadamu huyapitia kwa kubahatisha njia katika barakati zake za kutafuta ufanisi. Hivi ndivyo ilivyo kwa makahaba wengi. Hawana elimu na hatuwalaumu waia hatuwezi kwani hawakupenda kukosa elimu. Wengi walipofika katika darasa la nane, fedha zilipolea katika hewa yabisi; ulitima ukabisha hodi na maisha yakakoma kuwa kikao madhubuti. Nayo maisha ya uroda yakaanza huku tamaa ya pesa ikiandama. Si ajabu kuwa virukanjia wengi wenye sura ya hurulaini huwavutia wanaume msururu kama jinsi shonde huvutia inzi wasiohesabika. Biashara hunoga huku vimada hawa wakivuna zaidi ya elfu ishirini kwa siku na kutabasamu hadi katika benki wanamojiwekea akiba nono zisizo na wengi hasa wasomi ambao huwakashifu wakiwaambia kuwa pesa zao zinanuka.

Ndiyo, pesa hizo hunuka fee. Ni za biashara haramu inayoleta madhara ya kila nui na masaibu yanayomsibu hawara na kumnyima furaha na amani moyoni, Mara nyingi utawaona mahawara hao wakiwinda mitaant na vichochoroni usiku wa baridi kali wakiwa nusu uchi na wakijihatarisha kupatwa na magonjwa kama nimonia. Kwa vile ukahaba ni kinyume cha sheria za nchi ya Kenya, wanapotiwa mbaroni, wanatozwa faini na hata kutungwa jela. Bila shaka, watoto ndio huumia zaidi kina mama hawa wanapohukumiwa kifungo gerezani. Watoto hao huachwa usiku kucha bila mwangalizi. Katika kisa kimoja cha kutisha, watoto watatu walioachwa waliteketezwa kwa moto wa kandili wakabaki makaa. Mama yao alikuwa kahaba mtajika na alikuwa mitaani kutarazaki. Lo! Hata malaika wa Mungu wangelia machozi kwa kushuhudia tukio hili. Hawara aliporudi asubuhi, umati wa majirani ulimpa kichapo cha nyoka akalia kilio cha mbwa mdomo juu. Aliponea chupuchupu kwani siku hiyo angefarakana na dunia.

Kuna makahaba ambao hujaribu kuavya mimba lakini wengi wao huishia kaburini. Wakinusurika kifo wao huishi na matatizo mbalimbali katika sehemu zao za uzazi, labda hata wasiweze kushika mimba tena maishani. Je, ukahaba una mwisho kweli? Huenda vita dhidi ya ukahaba vifaulu siku moja lakini sharti jamii nzima ifanye juhudi na iungane kupiga teke na kumlaani ibilisi huyu. Kwanza kabisa, ni lazima serikali itafute mbinu mpya za kuondoa umaskini ambao ni msiba tunaojitakia kama taifa

. Huenda kuwa kiwango cha pato kikipanda kwa kila mwananchi, wanaosukumwa na umaskini kujitosa katika dimbwi hilo la ufasiki watazika ukware katika kaburi la sahau. Ni wajibu wa serikali pia kuimarisha huduma za kiafya kwa waathiriwa na vilevile kutoa elimu kwa wote bila malipo. Aidhe, serikali inafaa kutoa sheria na sera madhubuti kuhusu ukahaba nchini.

Wakati umewadia pia kwa viongozi wa dini kuhubiri mabadiliko ya kitabia na mbinu mwafaka za kumcha Mungu wala sio kunyemelea mifuko ya wafuasi katika injili iliyochafuka ya pesa na ufanisi. Vijana wanafaa wafunzwe kupitia kwa dini maadili yafaayo. Kabla ya ndoa, inapasa wajulishwe mapema changamoto za maisha ya ndoa ili wawe waaminitu. Zaidi ya yote, vijana wanahitaji kuwaona vielelezo miongoni mwa wazazi na viongozi. Hii ni kwa sababu vijana huiga yale wakubwa wao wanafanya wala sio yale wanayoyasikia. Tusipojihadhari, vidole vya lawama vitaelekezwa kwetu daima vizazi vijavyo vitakapoangamizwa na zimwi hili liitwalo ukimwi.

Soma kifungu kifuatacho kisha ujibu maswali yanayofuata.

Kwa hakika 'wanyongaji' wa Kiswahili ni wengi. Miaka ya mapema ya themanini palizuka kilugha cha vijana kilichopewa jina la sheng. Ni mcheshi mmoja aliyesema urefu wa Sheng' ni "shemeji hakuna Elimu Nyingine Gura." Sheng, ndiko walikohamia au kuguria vijana kilugha nje ya mawanda ya elimu. Walitaka kujificha kwenye kwapa za vijineno visivyoeleweka na wazazi wao. Wao sasa ajabu ni kwamba waliokuwa wakisema Sheng' zama hizo, wenyewe wamekuwa wazazi na ndio wanasema Sheng'. Hatimaye Sheng' imekuwa lugha ya taifa isiyo rasmi. Inazungumzwa nyumbani, arusini, matangani, kanisani, redioni na kuandikwa magazetini. Kwa sababu Sheng' imeiba maneno mengi kutoka kwenye Kiswahili sanifu na kuyasongoa inakuwa taklifu kujua tofauti. Wanafunzi wanatatizika kupambanua baina ya Sheng’ na lugha sanifu katika insha na maandishi yao. Ipo hatari kwamba Sheng’ ikishamiri sana na itakavyoendelea kushamiri, watu wachache sana wanaweza kuzungumza na kueleza Kiswahili sanifu. Kiswahili sanifu kinaweza kujikuta kimeenguliwa kutoka kwa hadhi ya lugha ya taifa hadi kuwa lugha ya kigeni. Hata pengine hi!o limeanza kutokea tayari. Si kweli kwamba kwa baadhi ya maashiki wa Sheng' Kiswahili ambacho ni Kiswahili kweli kinawatanza kama vile wanavyotanzwa na kichina au kiyunani? Wanapotazama habari za Kiswahili kwenye runinga wanabaki kutumbulia macho picha pasi kuelewa msamiati unaotumiwa.

Kiswahili kinashahimili makuruhu mengi, na hutoka vyanzo visivyotarajiwa. Asasi zinazohusika na Kiswahili pia huchangia kudorora kwa hali ya Kiswahili. Kosa kubwa lilipo ni ukosefu wa ushirikiano. Kuna ukosefu wa ushirikiano kati ya watengenezaji bidhaa au watoaji huduma na waundaji wa matangazo ya kibiashara. Kila uchao kiwango cha Kiswahili kwenye matangazo ya kibiashara kinaendelea kudidimia.

Mathalani unaposema au kusikia kauli kama vile 'neti iliyotibiwa' kama' tafsiri ya 'treated mosquito net' unajiuliza kama kitu kinachorejelewa kilikuwa kinaugua ugonjwa gani? Si vigumu kushuku kwamba watu wengi wanaotafsiri matangazo ya kibiashara ni malimbukeni wasiojua mbele wala nyuma ya tafsiri. Labda wapo wakenya wengine wenye uwezo mkubwa wa tafsiri lakini ambao ushauri na uhusika wao haukutafutwa. Ukweli huu ndio tanzia ya lugha hii. Kuna watu waliojiambika ubingwa wa kuaminiwa na mabingwa na kupewa majukumu ambayo si kiasi chao kuyatekeleza. Tokeo ni tafsiri zenye taksiri. Hili linatuleta katika swala zima la ushirikiano. Kwa sababu Kenya ina wasomi wengi waliotaalamika katika Kiswahili mbona hawashirikiani kuunda chombo mahsusi kukiendeleza Kiswahili? Ni kweli kwamba vyama kadhaa vimekuwa vinabuniwa na kujiita vyama vya Kiswahili lakini aghalabu shabaha ya waasi wa vyama hivyo ni kujifaidi wenyewe. Huu ubinafsi unahujumu juhudi za ushirikiano na asasi nyingine za ndani na nje ya nchi za kukiendeleza Kiswahili
